Headteacher Update

October 28th, 2011
As we get our new term underway I would like to share with you some of the ongoing events in Bannockburn High School.  Hopefully you will have received my newsletter during the October break detailing some of the events taking place and important key dates.

Since the newsletter we have had the introduction of the new school blazer for our senior school.  The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and I have received many comments regarding how smart our seniors are in and around our school community.  The pupil council is currently debating the merits of extending the wearing of a blazer across all year groups.  I look forward to hearing what they have to say!

Other points of interst include our new status as a fairtrade school, our very successful Global Student Forum group who are making a huge impact with their presentation on maternal health both here in the school and across the local authority, our new House assemblies have now had their second round where the House groups come together from S1 to S6 to celebrate success, and many more.  Please keep an eye on the local paper as we are working with them to ensure we can celebrate as much as we can the events within the school and share them as widely as possible.

Other activities include the introduction of rewards for excellent and improved attendance, introduction of tighter procedures for pupils moving between classes to maximise time for learning and fund raising to try and support pupil rewards more within the school.

I am looking forward to the challenges of our second term and developing our Curriculum for Excellence, working towards the prelim examinations and taking forward our developments  to continue to try and improve our service to our community.
