Course Description
This involves participation in activities in which the group are interested.
Performance
- each students practical ability is assessed internally and
checked by SQA moderator.
This area is worth 2 credits.
Performance Analysis
- this takes the form of a written exam which lasts 2
hours. The course work will include class work towards this exam which
involves regular homework.
This area is worth 1.0 credit
Investigation
- an investigation into an area of the students personal sporting interests.
- This area is worth 0.5 credit.
- The investigation is externally marked.
Progression
A pass at Intermediate 2 would give students an opportunity to do a course
at Higher level.
It should be noted that this course while being practical by nature, does
include a large amount of theory and writing.
Clarification of your suitability should be sought from the Head of
Department.
NB Higher and Intermediate 2 should be chosen in column E.
Students who wish to complete a course in Physical Education participating
only in practical may do so. These courses will offer the Performance Unit
only, without an analysis exam or an investigation. This will be indicated
on the course option form.
