- Perform on a Solo Instrument
- Perform in a Group Music Situation on a Second Instrument
- Invent Music
- Listen critically to a variety of musical styles
Content
The course develops skills learned in S1 and S2 Performing, Inventing &
Listening
- Pupils will learn one instrument for Solo Performing
- Pupils will learn one instrument for Group Performing
- Invent in the style of the unit
- Listen to the style of music being performed and invented
The Units covered are:
- The Music of Scotland
- Blues & Jazz
- Music of the Baroque & Classical Periods
- Popular Music
- 20th Century Music
Assessment
Within each unit, each element is assessed:
- Group Performing - Taped Evidence
- Inventing - Taped Evidence
- Listening - Multiple Choice Paper (May/June of S4)
- Solo Performing - Assessed by external examiner in March of S4
