Aims

To give pupils an understanding of contemporary issues and events.
To develop in pupils an understanding of the social, economic and political forces shaping their own society and societies in other countries.
To present contrasting points of view and allow pupils to judge these on their merits.
To develop pupils’ skills of communication.
To empower pupils to enable them to be fully involved in their local, national and international communities as active, positive citizens.

Assessment for S1/2 pupils is done through class work, formal homework exercises and end of unit assessments.
