Course
The course consists of two units, which are taught concurrently.

1.  Language

    Topics Lifestyles
  • family relationships, friendship, hometown, leisure
    Education and Work
  • school, employment and future careers
    The Wider World

Assessment
Reading and Listening are assessed at the end of each topic, (normally November, February and April). Only ONE pass in each skill is required, which means that if you pass in November, future assessments are really practice for the external exam.

Assessment
Writing only is assessed in this unit, but you will use as much of the target languages as possible in working towards this, expressing your own reaction to the characters and story.

External Exam
There are two papers, Reading/Translation and Directed Writing, which lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes, and Listening/Writing which lasts 1 hour. Combined with your Oral mark, these give you your final award.

Progression
To Advanced Higher, or to certain Further or Higher Education courses.
