History Department :
S3-S4 Standard Grade
Aim of the Course.
To further develop the historical skills of analysis and evaluation of source
material whilst at the same time stimulating a life long interest in history.
Course Content.
During the 2 year course, students will study three units covering different
contexts or periods.

Unit 1C – Changes in Scotland and Britain, 1880’s - Present Day.

Unit 2B - International Cooperation and Conflict, 1890’s – 1929.

Unit 3D - People and Power, Germany, 1919 – 1939.
Assessment.
Students are regularly assessed at the end of each sub-topic, and the course
includes ‘mini’ investigations for each pupil to develop their independent
enquiry skills. Informal assessment of classwork and in class tests happen
as a matter of course throughout the two year period. Prelim
examinations occur November/December in S4. Students then sit final
examinations at Foundation, General or Credit level.
