Aim of the Course.

To further develop the historical skills of analysis and evaluation of source material whilst at the same time stimulating a life long interest in history.

Course Content.

During the 2 year course, students will study three units covering different contexts or periods.

Unit 1C – Changes in Scotland and Britain, 1880’s - Present Day.
    Unit 2B - International Cooperation and Conflict, 1890’s – 1929.
    Unit 3D - People and Power, Germany, 1919 – 1939.

Assessment.

Students are regularly assessed at the end of each sub-topic, and the course includes ‘mini’ investigations for each pupil to develop their independent enquiry skills. Informal assessment of classwork and in class tests happen as a matter of course throughout the two year period.  Prelim examinations occur November/December in S4.  Students then sit final examinations at Foundation, General or Credit level.
