Entry to the Course.
Standard Grade 3
Under certain circumstances pupils with a Standard Grade 4 may be considered
for presentation at this level.
Course Description
The course comprises three 40 hour units
- Unit One : Language study
- Close reading of non-fiction texts and the writing of an essay in a chosen genre
- Unit Two : Literary Study
- The study of drama, poetry and prose

Unit Three : Personal Study
- The study of a topic of personal interest from e.g Literature, Language, Media etc.
Assessment
Assessment will be both internal, at the end of each unit, and external,
with a 2 ½ hour written exam at the end of the course.
