Computing at Intermediate 2 or equivalent experience.

Course Description
The course comprises two mandatory units and three optional units.

Mandatory units

    Computer Systems 1 credit (40 hours)
    Software Development 1 credit (40 hours)

Optional Units : There is a choice of 3 units

    Artificial Intelligence 1 credit (40 hours)
    Multimedia Technology 1 credit (40 hours)
    Computer Networking 1 credit (40 hours)

Assessment
The assessment structure consists of both Internal and External elements.

Internal
Each unit will be assessed by a series of tests, multiple choice and practical exercises.

External
This is split into 2 parts – the examination that makes up 70% of the external mark and practical coursework task that makes up 30% of the mark.

The coursework provides the opportunity to demonstrate and integrate practical skills and knowledge from the component units, and apply these in a more complex practical context.

This coursework is completed in class and marked by the teacher but is subject to SQA moderation. A mark out of 60 will be given.
