Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network.
The ASDAN award scheme is an imaginative way of introducing exciting new
activities and challenges to all pupils. Through participation, personal and
social confidence will inevitably increase, as will motivation, achievement
and self-esteem. There are various levels to work through, but pupils
will start on the Bronze award level, and will progress to higher levels, by
completing a number of chosen challenges from the wide range available.
- Give a talk about a topic of interest
- Obtain information using the telephone, internet
- Plan two journeys using maps
- Show that you have taken part in a sport or team sport
- Take part in cycling, fishing, horse riding
- Improve the look of a garden by weeding and tidying up
- Visit a re-cycle centre
- Establish links with someone from another country
These are but a few examples from a choice of literally hundreds.
By completing each challenge pupils focus on key skills and earn
points. Once the required number of points has been achieved the Bronze
level certificate will be awarded. Awards are nationally recognised by an
increasing number of educational establishments and employers. The scheme
can be developed throughout Secondary school and further education.
