Eco-Schools Award

The Bannockburn Green Team is delighted to announce that our school has received the Eco Schools Silver Award. This has been largely due to recent efforts initiated and sustained by pupils and staff throughout the school. We have been aiming to reduce litter and to minimise landfill by recycling paper, bottle and cans.

The Green Team hope to build on this success by tackling other topics (such as biodiversity/energy/transport/health promotion/global footprint) in the initiative which will lead to gaining the prestigious Green Flag. Further information can be found on the Eco Schools Scotland website.

Visit

On Wednesday 12th November, Mr. Cortopazzi from Eco Schools-Scotland came to visit the Green Team. There was a good turnout from members. Mr. Cortopazzi talked about running a successful group and gave us many helpful tips and ideas on raising awareness across the school. The talk was very beneficial and has helped us on our way. The Green Team would like to thank him for coming along and for bringing various recycled goodies with him.

Recycle Bins

Last week, classrooms in the school were issued with new bins for recycling plastic bottles and cans. The HQ (Greenhouse) will be the central point for collection. A rota will give classes an opportunity to empty their bins. This will mean that that less rubbish will be going to the landfill!
