Charities Committee
Bannockburn High School has a long tradition for Charity work. The pupils get very involved in Charities Week as well as raising funds for Sport Aid, Comic Relief and Children In Need.
Charities Week 2009
The school held a very successful Charities week in the run up to the Easter
holidays. An excellent total of £1095.43 was raised. The money was raised
through various events including:
Gunge-a-teacher (or Head Girl)
Staff V Pupils Sports Day

and a Non Uniform Day.
Thanks to Ms Masters and the Charities Committee for their efforts and hard
work throughout the session. A Cheque was presented to Mr David Hamilton of
‘The Erskine Edinburgh Home’ who care for ex-Service men and women.

Present Aid
Once again this year Ms Masters from the English Department is organising
Present Aid. This involves Form classes collecting ‘loose change’ during
morning registration for the next few weeks. At the start of December each
individual form class selects and buys a gift from the ‘Present Aid’
catalogue in association with Christian Aid to be given to those in the
developing world. The Presents bought will be announced at the Christmas
Service on 21st December.
Children In Need
The school was a hive of activity last year raising funds for Children in Need. The charities committee organised a number of events including ‘Guess the number of sweets in the Jar’, a Non Uniform Day and ‘Staff v Pupils Football’. By the end of the day on Friday the school had raised £925.69. Well done to the Charities committee and all who took part!!
Macmillan Cancer Relief
Before the October break the school held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. The event was held in the staffroom at morning interval and, thanks to contributions from staff and pupils, was a huge success. The school also held a non-uniform day and a “Guess the Monkey’s Birthday” competition to raise money. The total raised was £1058. Thanks go to the staff, S6 pupils and the Charities Committee for organising the day and for all the staff and pupils who willingly parted with their money for a good cause.
Red Nose Day
A big thank you to all those who helped us raise more than £1100 for last years Red Nose Day.
