The Junior Awards are held in June and celebrate the achievements of pupils in S1 to S3.

Senior Awards Ceremony 2009

It is one of the most significant events on the school calendar, marking as it does the culmination of the efforts of pupils and staff together, to strive to achieve further and higher goals. This year’s ceremony took place last Wednesday evening and was indeed a memorable occasion.

Mr McAlpine’s Rector’s Report picked out the elements of ‘excellence’ and ‘change’ and highlighted how recently and over the course of the next session major changes have been and will be taking place. This included the current refurbishment to the school and the excellent facilities it will strive to offer. He further highlighted to those in attendance the ‘excellent’ package that Bannockburn High has to offer with not only quality teaching but the wide range of extra curricular activities on offer to pupils. He closed by informing pupils, parents and staff of how the school ethos has been evaluated and based on consultation with pupils and staff. The Bannockburn ‘CARES’ motto will be relaunched in the new session to outline the values that underpin the life of the school. Musical items were provided by Craig Innes and the Vocal Group

Guest speaker Sandra McLumpha, a former pupil and founder of Fake Bake, highlighted the need for determination and commitment to hard work when seeking opportunities and advantages in the outside world. She encouraged the pupils to make use of their school and community in the years ahead as they move on from school and stressed the importance “Standing on your own two feet” potential. Ms McLumpha presented the awards to the senior pupils and finally the Dux medal was presented by Mr McAlpine to Robert Kimmitt.
