Bannockburn played a ferocious game against Stirling High last Wednesday,
beating the bigger school 21-17 to advance to the Central Schools Bowl Final
next week. The Bannockburn pack played with great aggression, highlighted in
particular by Kieran Penny and Stephen McDuff winning rucks and making
covering tackles all over the field. Tries were scored by Scott Headley, who
was soon taken off injured, Andrew Kimmitt and Kyle Dalziel, with three
conversions by Robert Kimmitt. Men of the Match were Steven Watt, for his
destructive runs and David Heggie, who stepped up from full-back to fill in
at stand-off for the injured Scott. It was also announced that Karl Duffey
had been voted Player of the Year. The school also played a very tough,
determined defensive game against Central Schools’ Cup tournament favourites
Alva Academy on Wednesday 19th, ultimately losing the game 52-0. The
scoreline does not reflect the fierce level of performance the boys put in
against one of the best teams in the country, a performance exemplified by
the likes of Ross Cowie using his speed to thwart brawny Alva attacks, James
O'Hare using his power to great effect and new player Fraser Anderson
winning Man of the Match for some devastating tackles out on the wing. 8/11/2007
Bannockburn High played an excellent game against Graeme High last
night, winning 19-17. The boys showed great character and self-belief to
come back from 12-0 down for the win. Two tries were scored by Andrew
Kimmitt and the winner by new winger David Heggie. Robert Kimmitt added two
conversions. Since the whole team played phenomenally well, the whole team
was Man of the Match.

The senior team played well in a close 26-14 defeat away to McLaren
High. Bannockburn tries were scored by Robert Kimmitt and Kyle Dalziel with
a conversion each for Andrew and Robert Kimmitt. Man of the Match was Andrew
Kimmitt who led by example with his great storming runs. Also, a special
mention for Kyle Dalziel who covered stand-off and scrum-half positions in a
game hit by injuries for Bannockburn.

The senior team played a very tough, physical match against Stirling
High on Monday. Tries were scored by Kieran Penny, Kyle Dalziel and Andrew
Kimmitt (x2), with 3 conversions by Robert Kimmitt. The Man of the Match in
a game in which Bannockburn dominated the second half, although eventually
losing 41-26 due to a slow start in the first half, was Kieran Penny.

Bannockburn High's return to rugby continued last night in a three way
tournament at Denny High School. The first of the two shortened games the
boys played was against Denny, where Bannockburn beat the hosts 5-0. The try
was scored by wing Stuart Hall who was also named man of the match.
The next game was a close encounter against Graeme High, where the boys
showed their improved skill levels by adopting a tactical kicking game, but
unfortunately lost 5-0. Man of the match here was full-back Scott Headley.
Throughout the two games Bannockburn were highly impressive in tackling and
direct running and should take pride from their physical and confident style
of play. Man of the Day was Callum Cameron, who played very well in his
first outing as fly-half.

Rugby - Bannockburn High's Senior Rugby team played their first game in
several years last Monday when they took on the visiting Stirling High. The
boys played exceptionally well against a large, well drilled Stirling team
and can take lots of pride in their effort and tackling, especially since
many of the squad were making their rugby debuts. The final score was
eventually 44-10 to Stirling, with Bannockburn tries scored by Andrew
Kimmitt and Robert Kimmitt. Man of the match went to Karl Duffy.
