Amnesty Group

Recently two S5 pupils, Aime Jaffray and Louise Paterson, traveled to London for the second time to take part in the Amnesty International Youth Advisory Group. They discussed various human rights issues, including land issues in the Lubican Cree area of Canada. They gained valuable knowledge which they passed on to the schools group to incorporate into their actions.

Furthermore the Amnesty Group held their annual Book Sale in celebration of World Book Day. There was a variety of books ranging from child and adult fiction to non-fiction. The books were priced from 50p alongside Amnesty pencils and badges. The Sale was a big success with the Group raising a total of £150 which will be donated to the work of Amnesty International. The remainder of the books not sold will be given to local charity shops. Many thanks to all those pupils and staff who came along to support the event.
