Charities Team
The Charities Team are collecting this year for the Barnado’s Scotland
Appeal. Pupils are encouraged to donate any loose change during registration
or use the Bannockburn High Post Office to deliver their Christmas Cards.
Each form class has identified a gift that they would like to give to
children who are less well off than themselves.
RAF Visit
Last week the RAF Maths Mission visited Bannockburn High School. RAF
officers delivered workshops to every third year pupil, allowing them the
opportunity to see Maths being applied in the work place. The interactive
classroom-based workshops allowed pupils to see a range of mathematical
techniques in real-life situations: deciding on cooking times using
formulas; using 6 figure grid references and whole circle bearings to find
items on a map; packing a Chinook helicopter with weighted packages. This
was a highly successful, enjoyable, three days allowing all S3 pupils a
chance to further their numeracy skills in a cross curricular context,
learning successfully in collaborative groups. Pupils expressed their
enjoyment of working with the RAF and felt they benefited from the
experience.
‘Grease’
There was a full house on Tuesday and Wednesday as the pupils expertly
performed their annual school show. The production of ‘Grease’ was deemed
highly professional by many members of the audience. The catchy tunes,
quirky dance moves and fabulous costumes had the audience enthralled from
start to finish.
All pupils performed superbly, however Daniel Mooney gave a highly
entertaining performance as Danny Zuko as did Sheryl Hillhouse as Sandy.
Kirsten Reekie gave an outstanding performance as Rizzo and Jennifer Innes
stirred the audience with her spot- on performance as Patty.
A tremendous amount of energy and teamwork was put in by all members of the
cast and crew and a brilliant evening was had by all. It certainly left each
member of the audience eagerly awaiting the announcement of what next year’s
show will be!
