S3 History Trip
A group of S3 History pupils had an informative morning at Stirling Castle.
Pupils were met by a ‘real ’ WWI soldier who spoke in great detail about the
role of Stirling Castle during the ‘Great War’ . The group then enjoyed an
action packed presentation on the life of a soldier on the Western Front.
This proved to be a stimulating and informative experience for both staff
and pupils, who displayed an excellent standard of behaviour and were a
credit to the school. Thanks to Historic Scotland, Stirling Castle and Bob
Holsman for a great morning. Thank you also to Mrs. Smith and Miss Baxter
for organising and supervising such a beneficial fun trip.
Christmas Charities Appeal
The Charities committee launched their Christmas appeal this week. This year
they are raising money for the Barnado’s Scotland. Form classes are asked to
donate any spare change over the next two weeks and then purchase a gift
from the list available to give a happier Christmas to disadvantaged
children and young people.
PSA Prize Draw
The first PSA prize draw of this session took place last Friday.
The winners of the £50 prizes were Ms Simpson (staff) and Mrs C Forsyth
(Parent). Thanks to Ms Baxter of the History department for making the draw.
Going Carbon Neutral
Simon Gooden of Going Carbon Neutral Stirling, visited the school this week
at the request of the Eco Group. He offered positive, practical information
and advice on ways to cut carbon. GCNS involves pupils and staff choosing
monthly carbon reduction actions which are straightforward and will not only
reduce climate change but reduce pollution, help save money and help promote
the personal health benefits of walking, cycling and eating local, seasonal
food.
German Christmas Market
S2 and S4 German pupils will be visiting the German Christmas Market in
Edinburgh next week as part of their studies.
