Children In Need
The Charities Committee was fundraising last Friday for Children in Need.
There was a variety of stalls for staff and pupils to visit during interval
and lunchtime, for example ‘Guess the Teacher’, ‘Guess Pudsey’s Birthday’,
‘How Many Sweets are in the Jar?’ and the lunchtime jukebox. A grand total
of £206 was raised and will be donated to Children in Need. Well done to all
those involved.
ACE Events
Over the next few weeks the school shall be promoting Barnado’s “Real Gifts”
project. This involves donating money to Barnado’s in the school and the
money goes towards gifts for children at Christmas such as a warm meal,
school essentials, a fun day out and much more. The gifts are simple and
easy to achieve, something these children may be missing and as a school we
are hoping to be able to buy as many gifts as we can. Please donate
generously.
History Trip To Stirling Castle
The History Department visited Stirling Castle this week to participate in a
variety of interactive activities in line with the Standard Grade course.
S4 Prelims
The S4 prelims have begun this week. S4 pupils should only attend school
when they have scheduled exam or if they have made a prior arrangement with
staff. Dress, although casual, should be appropriate when attending, that is
no football colours should be worn in school.
ECO Schools Project
The Eco group will be planting daffodil bulbs in the school grounds next
week as part of their activities. The bulbs will be monitored by the group
in preparation for their bloom in springtime.
Girls Football
Congratulations to the girls football teams who took on Hillpark Secondary
of Glasgow in a friendly tournament. The girls played exceptionally well in
terrible conditions. Players of the tournament for Bannockburn were Chloe
Wishart, Siobhon McEwan and Michaela Wheatley of S1 and Gillian Downie of S4
who was playing for the senior team. The girls will be entered into the
Forthvalley league after Christmas. If you would like to be involved come
along to the Girls Allowed Sports Club on a Wednesday night from 3:45 - 4:45
to participate in a wide range of team activities. A special thanks goes to
the S3 boys for their support.
Sports Volunteers
Congratulations to the Sports Volunteers within the school who have started
an after school club on a Wednesday night for our local primary schools. If
you have brothers or sisters in P4 at Bannockburn or Braehead primary please
encourage them to see Fraser Crawford (Active Schools coordinator) to find
out how they can sign up.
