M+
Our M+ scheme encourages the pupils to adopt the very highest standards in
five important areas – attendance, behaviour, dress, bringing equipment and
punctuality. Top performers in each form class are issued with a reward
voucher at the end of each term. Term 1 vouchers were issued last week. At
the end of the school year those pupils who collected more than two vouchers
will have the chance to take part in a day visit to M & D’s.
PSA Monthly Prize Draw
It’s back and heading for another successful year. Pamphlets, detailing how
the draw works, with an application form, have now been issued. Entry is
open to staff, parents of pupils in the school and friends of the school.
The first PSA draw will take place at the end of November.
S5/6 Parent-Teacher Interviews
These take place on Monday 16th November between 4.15pm and 6.45pm.
Appointment sheets will be issued and pupils should make appointments
accordingly. S5/6 interim reports have also been completed by staff this
week and will be posted to parents and carers in due course.
Scottish Parliament Visit
A number of S4 pupils visited the Scottish Parliament last Thursday. After
looking round the (expensive) shop, we proceeded to the public gallery of
the Debating Chamber to view First Minister’s Question Time. Much to our
amusement MSPs shouted, cheered and banged their fists as questions were
asked and answered. Afterwards we were met by Bruce Crawford, our
constituency MSP, who gave us a guided tour of the Parliament. We were shown
around offices and committee rooms, some even got to sit in the
contemplation pods. Bruce Crawford pointed out other amazing architectural
features of the building as well as this we witnessed a Scothedge protest
taking place outside and spoke to Iain Gray, leader of Scottish Labour. In
typical Scottish tradition it began to pour with rain as we piled back onto
the bus.

Amnesty Party 2009
Bannockburn High hosted their third Annual Amnesty Party on Friday 30th
October. This lunch time event was a huge success for the Group who gave out
badges, stickers, leaflets, chocolate and encouraged pupils to contribute to
campaigns and buy pencils. Congratulations to the busy members of Amnesty
who gave up their time to promote fairness and equality for those without a
voice. Our special thanks to Billy and Dale for their acoustic contribution
to our event and for Mr Walker’s support.
Working together to make the world a fairer place.
Amnesty Mobile Request
The school’s Amnesty International Group will be collecting old mobile
phones to recycle. The phones can be in any state of repair – Amnesty will
receive £5 for each. If you have an old phone at home, please help us by
bringing it along to Room 308 (Mrs Mackay) or bring it along at lunch time
to our Amnesty Party on Friday 30th in the lecture theatre.
