Edinburgh Book Festival
• “The authors were all really good and got me interested in their
books, I’m definitely coming back”
• “I loved Bali Rai, I would enjoy having him come to our school”
(Statements of pupils who participated in trip)
On 24th S3 pupils attended an enjoyable outing to the Edinburgh Book
Festival. The sun was shining and the atmosphere was buzzing. The pupils
attended exciting talks, the first one by Gillian Phillip. She gave an
interesting presentation about her novels and about her career, she also
gave some fantastic readings from her new novel ‘Crossing the Line’. The
second was an exciting talk by two authors Bali Rai and Paul Dowswell. Bali
Rai was hilarious and kept the audience entertained with his exciting
readings from his book ‘City of Ghosts’ and his interesting knowledge. Paul
Dowswell also gave a gripping reading from his novel ‘Auslander’. Overall
the pupils enjoyed their day and would like to return again in years to
come.
