London
Higher Modern Studies pupils visited London last week. Whilst there they
visited the Parliament, enjoying a tour of the House of Commons and House of
Lords and having the opportunity to ask questions to the tour guide, the
London Eye and toured London aboard an open topped bus. They also managed to
fit in a trip to Harrods and two West End musicals – ‘Wicked’ and ‘We Will
Rock You’. The trip was extremely enjoyable as well as educational. The
pupils conducted themselves in an exemplary manner at all times and were a
credit to the school during the excursion.

A reminder to parents and carers that payments for the excursion should be
made to Miss Allardyce, in room 202, at any point during the school day. The
final date for payment is Thursday 2nd April.
Fairtrade
The school has been raising awareness of Fairtrade this
week. Various events have been taking place during the school day. Taster
stalls have been set up in the social area at morning interval each day
allowing pupils to sample Fairtrade products including bananas, exotic
fruits and chocolate. Furthermore a Fairtrade producer visited the school
last week and met with a number of pupils and staff, where she outlined the
benefits of growing and selling Fairtrade products.
Amnesty Group
The School’s Amnesty Group is once again holding their annual Second-hand
Book Sale to celebrate World Book Day and to raise cash for Amnesty
International. This will take place during lunch times in the lecture
theatre on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 March. Pupils of the school are invited
to come along and pick up a bargain or two. Books will cost as little as
50p. If any pupils have books at home they would like to donate to the Sale,
please hand in to Mrs Mackay in room 308. Click
here for more details.
PSA Prize Draw
The PSA Prize Draw took place last Friday. The winners were Mr Joseph
Traynor and Mrs Cochrane who both received £50. Thanks to Mr McMenemy for
making the draw.
Sports News
Stephen Kingsley S3 was selected for the Scottish under-15 preparation squad
recently. He travelled to Inverclyde last week to train with the squad but
unfortunately did not play due to injury. Steven at present plays for
Falkirk under 15s. Also our Sports Volunteers hosted an Athletics Festival
for our feeder Primary cluster. Over 150 Primary 5 pupils came to
Bannockburn High and had a great morning attempting a variety of athletics
events. Our Sports Leaders were magnificent in the way they worked with the
children. Active Stirling commented that they were a credit to the school.
Congratulations to all involved!
