S4 Prelims

The S4 prelims begin next week and the S4 timetable is suspended for the next two weeks. Pupils in S4 should only attend school for timetable exams or for pre arranged discussions with staff.

Charities

The Charities Committee were busy last week raising money for Children in Need. Guess Pudsey’s celebrity name, Staff Karaoke, Staff v Pupils football and a non uniform day were among the events planned by the senior pupils. A total of £1255.00 was raised. Well done to all those who contributed.

S4 Social Subjects Parent Workshops

The Parent Workshops for History, Geography and Modern Studies all took place last week. This aimed to give parents a full understanding of what is expected of pupils completing the Standard Grade course. Staff were extremely pleased at the turnout for this event which will hopefully be continued in the future.

PSA MONTHLY PRIZE DRAW

It’s back and heading for another successful year. Pamphlets, detailing how the draw works, with an application form, have now been issued. Entry is open to staff, parents of pupils in the school and friends of the school. Friday 21st November is the deadline for signing up for the draw. The first PSA draw will take place at the end of November.

'Get Into Nursing'

Rachel Berry, Lorna Leary and Jenna Forsyth attended the WHAN ‘Get into Nursing’ careers event at Stirling University on Tue 4th Nov. They had to participate in workshops which helped them find out more about adult nursing, mental health nursing as well as alternative careers in research and the military. The evening was beneficial giving the pupils valuable career insights.

Human Right Party

The school’s Amnesty International group hosted a party on Friday 31st October to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This is fast becoming an annual event enjoyed by the vast number of pupils attending. Enticed with cakes, stickers and balloons many pupils learned about the human rights we enjoy and how to support those whose rights are violated. Congratulations to the many young people who helped to organise this event, showing citizenship skills and concern for those unable to voice injustice for themselves.

College 4 U

Recently, twenty S4 pupils travelled to Forth Valley College to attend the College 4U event. The morning event was designed to allow pupils to experience college life. They attended workshops run by various departments within the college including Beauty and Mechatronics. Pupils also had the opportunity to speak to college staff about courses offered at Forth Valley. A great morning was had by all!
