Scottish Learning Festival
Kayleigh Dudgeon, Sheryl Hillhouse and Ms Jeffrie from the PE Department
represented the school last week at the Scottish Learning Festival at the
SECC. The pupils spoke to a captive audience about the benefits and their
experience of the Standard Grade PE aesthetics course, aiming to encourage
more girls to take part in PE. Taking part in this pilot project allowed the
pupils to become more involved in dance, trampolining, aerobics and
gymnastics as opposed to the more traditional team orientated course offered
in most schools.

S3 Boys Football
Congratulations to the S3 football team for beating Balfron High School 1-0
on Tuesday. The team played extremely well creating several good chances.
However it was Ross McGeachie who score the vital winner, rising like a
salmon to score a bullet headed from a wonderful pin point cross supplied by
Stuart Esplin wide on the left. Man of the Match was too close to call
however Lee Miller, playing centre half put in a solid display and Stuart
Esplin, caused mayhem in the Balfron defence and both quite rightly earned,
Men of the Match awards.
Active Kids Get Cooking
S2 Home Economics pupils have been creating a range of savoury scones as
part of their Active Kids Get Cooking Bronze Award. Active Kids Get Cooking
is a national initiative, which recognises, supports and promotes excellent
healthy eating and cooking in secondary schools. Pupils had to design a
savoury scone which was healthy and included ingredients from around the
world.
Last week pupils made their scones and Joanne Kelso, owner of the Tea Room,
Braehead kindly visited the school to evaluate and choose five winning
scones.
The winners and their scones were :
Kyle Ramsay (Mozzarella and Pepperoni)
Trisha Couper (Mexican Fajita)
Lewis Palmer (Brie and Grape)
Megan McGurl (Feta and Olive)
Maria Thomson (The Scot’s Best - cheese, mashed potato and oats)
