Rector's Newsletter

The Rector issued his May newsletter last week. It included important information regarding the refurbishment of the school, news from the Parent Council and the calendar for session 2008-2009. Click here to read it in full.

Scottish Youth Parliament

Zoe Taylor, our present Head Girl will be standing as a candidate in the forthcoming elections to the Scottish Youth Parliament. Stirling has never elected anyone to the Scottish Youth Parliament before so it would be a great opportunity for the young people of Stirling to have their voices heard. We are hopeful that you will encourage and support Zoe in her bid for election success. If you are between 12 and 25 you can vote for Zoe in the following ways – mobile polling station will be in Stirling Town centre on Saturday 17th and 24th May, Text VOTE followed by ZOE TAYLOR to 07717996884 or cast your vote online by going to www.youngscot.org.uk/stirling - this is only available to NEC card or Young Scot holders.

S1 Interviews

The final interviews between S1 pupils and pupil support teachers took place on Monday and Tuesday of this week, allowing time for pupils to discuss their reports and the progress they have made during their first year in Bannockburn High. The reports will be sent out to parents/carers in the coming days.

Activities

The school will be a lot quieter over the next few days as a great number of pupils are taking part in trips to Alton Towers, a 3 day excursion to London and Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme Expeditions.

School Show

A reminder that ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ will take place between 17th and 19th June in the Lecture theatre. Tickets will be available shortly.

Drug Proof Your Kids

The Parent Council is hosting a series of meetings called ‘How to Drug Proof your Kids’. This is an education prevention and intervention programme developed by the national charity “Care for the Family” and will be run by a qualified trainer. There is a first meeting for parents who want to find out more on Thursday 5th June at 7.30pm in the school.
