Senior Awards Ceremony

It is one of the most significant events on the school calendar, marking as it does the culmination of the efforts of pupils and staff together, to strive to achieve further and higher goals. This year’s ceremony took place last Wednesday evening and was indeed a memorable occasion.

Mr McAlpine’s Rector’s Report picked out the elements of ‘opportunity’ and ‘change’ and highlighted how recently and over the course of the next session major changes have been and will be taking place. This included the move to the new extension and the forthcoming refurbishment to the school. He further stressed to pupils how they should make the most of opportunities presented to them in the course of their school years.

Guest speaker Bruce Crawford JP, MSP, provided an excellent address, thought provoking yet highly entertaining, outlining the wonderful opportunities and advantages provided by Bannockburn High and by Stirling and the wider community. He encouraged the pupils to make use of their school and community in the years ahead as they move on from school and into the wider world and stressed the importance of achieving their full potential. Mr Crawford presented the awards to the senior pupils and finally the Dux medal was presented by Mr McAlpine to Craig Innes. A full list of awards winners is available here.

Rectors Newsletter

The rector issued his newsletter for March 2008 at the end of term outlining important information for parents and carers. Included were items regarding the new extension, parking facilities for staff, parents and carers and arrangements for S4, 5 and 6 during the SQA examinations. Any parent/carer who did not receive this can request a copy from the school office or click here.

Zoe Taylor, our present Head Girl will be standing as a candidate in the forthcoming elections to the Scottish Youth Parliament. If you are between 12 and 25 you can vote for Zoe in the following ways – mobile polling station will be in Stirling Town centre on Saturday 17th and 24th May, Text VOTE followed by ZOE TAYLOR to 07717996884 or cast your vote online by going to www.youngscot.org.uk/stirling - this is only available to NEC card or Young Scot holders.
