Bannockburn's Got Talent

Congratulations to all pupils who took part in the recent talent show in school. Parents, pupils and staff were treated to two nights of fabulous entertainment. The overall winner of Tuesday’s performance was Callum Frickleton, S4 with his impressions of staff and Wednesday’s winners were Andrew Kimmitt and Steven Watt of S6 with their version of ‘For What It’s Worth’. Zoe taylor did a wonderful job of comparing job of computing on both evenings.

Cowie & Plean Youth Groups

A special assembly has been arranged for Monday 15th October to allow Lauren McQuade, Youth Project Worker with Community Services, to generate interest in the recently established Community Youth Groups. Pupils from Plean will attend from 2.50pm-3.10pm and pupils from Cowie from 3.15pm-3.35pm.

Charities Committee

The Charities Committee have been working hard this week. Pupils and staff have been guessing the cuddly toy’s birthday. The staff also held a coffee morning on Friday in aid of MacMillan Cancer Care and the whole school got involved with the non-uniform day also held on Friday. The grand total of £1508.43 was raised – a great effort to start off our fundraising this year.

S4 HOSPITALITY
We recently interviewed Gemma Fox who works as a Supervisor in Osta in Stirling. She told us about her duties which include customer care and checking people into their rooms. Other than the long hours, she really likes her job because of the thanks the customers give her. We got a tour of the rooms which are really big, nicely decorated and have an ensuite bathroom. The celebrity she would like to serve food to is Peter Kay because she thinks he would be interesting and is a really funny person.
Thanks to Osta for allowing us to interview Gemma for the ‘This could be you’ section of the Department noticeboard.
By Nicole Gerrard and Laura Millar.

The S4 Hospitality classes have also been producing reports on a news story or a TV programme with links to Home Economics / Hospitality. The winner was Kyle Anderson who submitted an excellent report on a house fire in Fallin which he linked to Home Safety.

Sports News

S3 Boys Football
The S3 boys football team secured a superb win over Wallace High last Thursday, winning 7-0. Goals were scored by Jack Walker, Calum McCormack (2), Grant Dixon (2), Grant Inglis, David McPhee.

Senior Rugby
Bannockburn High's return to rugby continued last night in a three way tournament at Denny High School. The first of the two shortened games the boys played was against Denny, where Bannockburn beat the hosts 5-0. The try was scored by wing Stuart Hall who was also named man of the match.

The next game was a close encounter against Graeme High, where the boys showed their improved skill levels by adopting a tactical kicking game, but unfortunately lost 5-0. Man of the match here was full-back Scott Headley.

Throughout the two games Bannockburn were highly impressive in tackling and direct running and should take pride from their physical and confident style of play. Man of the Day was Callum Cameron, who played very well in his first outing as fly-half.
