Welcome Back
Pupils were welcomed back to school at a series of assemblies conducted by
the Rector, Mr McAlpine and other members of the Senior Management Team last
Monday and Tuesday morning, where the priorities for the term ahead were set
out.
Staffing News
As last year there are a considerable number of new faces joining the
staff at this time. A warm welcome is extended to :

There were also two retirements at the end of last session with Mrs
Malcolm of the Home Economics Department and Mrs Hunter of the Additional
Support for Learning leaving the school after a number of years. We would
like to wish them both a long and enjoyable retirement.
Dance Competition
Bannockburn High’s Annual Dance Competition took place on Monday 25th June.
Girls in S2 – S5 put on an outstanding show for the 245 people who came to watch
and support them. Girls were judged in 2 sections; Junior and Senior.
The 3 Judges had a very tough decision to make when choosing the winners as
all dances were of an excellent standard. In the Junior section Eilidh Hendry
was thrilled to win first place and in the senior section Sammy Kerr, Sheryl
Hillhouse and Toni Bruce were equally delighted with their Gold Medals. The £245
raised from ticket money sales will be donated to Yorkhill Hospital for sick
kids. Well done to everyone who took part or came along to support the girls.

Edinburgh Book Festival
On Friday of last week a number of S3 pupils from the English Department
were given the opportunity to go to the Edinburgh Book Festival to meet and
listen to various authors talking about their recent work. A full report in next
week’s news.
September Holiday
The school will be closed on Monday 10th September and will reopen to pupils
on Tuesday 11th at 8.55am.
